This morning we were notified of a problem within the authentication system of eXtplorer by Brendan Coles of itsecuritysolutions.org. Versions 2.1.2, 2.1.1, 2.1.0 and 2.1.0RC5 have found to be vulnerable to an authentication bypass bug.
This bug has been fixed in the latest release of eXtplorer (2.1.3), which you should download and install/upgrade immediately!
The latest release of eXtplorer - version 2.1.1 - brings compatibility to Joomla! 3.0, which is the current latest version. No features have been added or bugs been resolved. So if you need eXtplorer for us in Joomla! 3.0, you must use eXtplorer 2.1.1 (or later).

Make sure you get the new version now!
The current eXtplorer version has a minor bug that prevents it from loading in Joomla! 1.7. As long as no newer version has been released (which is to be expected soon!), you can fix the bug by changing the file /administrator/components/com_extplorer/include/function.php:
Replace lines 741-743
###
if( $jversion->RELEASE != substr($version, 0, 3 ) ) {
return false;
}
###
with this new code:
###
$this_version = $jversion->RELEASE;
###
This should fix the problem.

Besides that, some other minor bugs have been fixed.
Finally, after months of development in beta- and RC-phase, eXtplorer 2.0 has been released!

And again a new version of eXtplorer is available! eXtplorer 2.0 RC4 will be the last Release Candidate before going stable.

A Server-to-Server feature has been added, so you can directly download files from the internet to your server.

All testers are welcome to test and report bugs found during usage.
In the future the joomlaXplorer project will be continuing as "eXtplorer". eXtplorer is the joomlaXplorer version 2, plus re-activated stand-alone capabilities.
While the joomlaXplorer 1.x branch is maintained under the old name, eXtplorer will be developed as a File Manager without having Joomla! as a requirement, but as an option.
This means you can install eXtplorer into Joomla as a component and use it from inside Joomla!.
I also decided to keep the version numbering (this better reflects the maturity of the software).
So you can now download the first version of eXtplorer (version 2.0.0 beta3) and test it on your server. Note that you can now use joomlaXplorer and eXtplorer on the same Joomla! installation, because also the component directory has been renamed.
Don't forget to check out the new home of eXtplorer:
http://extplorer.sourceforge.net.
Shortly after joomlaXplorer 2 beta1 was out, a lot of users have posted their feedback and bug reports in the forum/bug tracker. That's why I could fix some of the most annoying bugs with the new version. It's now even successfully tested on Konqueror and Safari 3 (Win).
I recommended to test drive this new version and report your experience(s) back here!

I'm proud to announce the availability of the next generation of the famous joomlaXplorer:
joomlaXplorer 2.0 is a web-based desktop-like file manager for Joomla!. It uses the new ExtJS (
http://extjs.com) Javascript Framework for Layouting, displays the Directory Structure in a Tree, the Files in a Grid and allows Drag&Drop Actions to copy and move. All file and directory actions can be accessed through right-click context menu as well as through a new toolbar.
Directory navigation has been made easier by introducing a navigation similar to Windows Vista's Explorer - just try it out.
Please note that all javascript functionality might only be available on Internet Explorer 6+ and Firefox 1.5+. Opera doesn't like right-click actions and the dialogs, Safari and Konqueror are untested.
